William (Bill or Billy) F. Clevenger, Jr., 58 of Deptford and formerly of Penns Grove, passed away suddenly on Friday July 9, 2021. Born on Francis Drive in Pennsville, NJ, Bill was the son of the late William F. Clevenger, Sr and Beverly L. Nicholas. Bill is survived by his mother, Beverly L. Nicholas, brother Larry Lee Rathbone, Sr., sister Ev’a S. Rathbone-Mills and her husband Jeffrey, nephews Jeffrey A. Mills, Larry L. Rathbone, Jr, Thomas M. Mills, Chad McCauley, John L. Stanton, III, nieces Sara L. Rathbone, Chloe McCauley, Cameron McCauley along with four great nephews and 4 great nieces as well as aunts and many cousins. He is predeceased by his maternal great grandmother Mary Morgan Baker, paternal grandparents William H. and Marie C. Clevenger, maternal grandparents Thomas M. & Ev’a S. Parker, brother John L. Stanton, Jr and a sister-in-law Pamala Ann Richard Rathbone along with cousins and many aunts and uncles. Bill was a 1981 graduate of Penns Grove High School. He loved heavy metal music and attended many concerts. Bill made friends wherever he went and it was easy. He was a fun, loving, caring devoted son, grandson, nephew, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend. After following in the footsteps of the men in the family becoming a merchant marine, he became a “Jack of all Trades’”. Whether it was detailing a car, cleaning windows or grooming the lawn, nobody did it like Bill, he was meticulous. Always smiling, a little shy, a little bashful, a joker and prankster in his own right. He loved to talk and could talk the brass balls off a monkey and we loved him. He loved to laugh and the stories he told would leave you in stitches. If you needed him, a loyal friend, he was there and offered his best. Bill loved being outside, loved the sun and being at the beach, and there was nothing like hanging out with family. He was a fan of all sports, some of his favorite teams included the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Flyers, a huge fan of College Footballs’ Penn State and loyal follower of Basketball's March Madness, just to name a few. Bill, aka Lump or Bear was affectionately nicknamed "Clev" by the caring staff at Fox Trail Senior Living, where he lived the last 7 months. Bill thrived and found life again with the staff and friends he made while there. He loved it there, loved the staff and they loved him. Whatever we called him, one thing is certain, he was loved, will always be loved and will always be missed by everyone who knew him. In Bill’s memory, please make a contribution to a charity of your choice. Burial will be private at the discretion of the family.
