Phyllis M. Friant, 88 of Pennsville died on Saturday January 10, 2015 at her home after an extended illness. Raised in Deepwater and a lifelong resident of Salem County, she lived most of her life in the Pennsville area. During her career she worked many years as a senior certified nursing assistant and enjoyed working with the elderly. Among her hobbies were traveling with her friends and family, playing bingo and bus trips to Atlantic City. She is survived by sons, Edward Sr. (Donna), Melvin Sr. (Judy), daughters, Sharon Flickinger (Tom) and Jean Wright (Artie). She is further survived by 22 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren and her brother Franklin Coulbourn. Mrs. Friant was predeceased by her husband Elmer M. Friant, Sr. in 1990, by her sons, Elmer M. Jr. and Wilbur G. and a daughter, Phyllis J. Jones. She was also predeceased by her mother and father, Edward and Lillian (nee Marshall) Coulbourn, four sisters, Delores, Laura, Doris, Marie and three brothers, William, Edward and Harry. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 AM on Wednesday in the Ashcraft Funeral Home, 740 S. Broadway, Pennsville followed by a funeral service at 11 AM.
