Louis Ziegler, Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Louis E. Ziegler, Sr., age 92 of Pedricktown was born in Center Square, NJ to Clarence and Mary Renter Ziegler on August 24, 1916. The Lord called him home to be with his beloved wife Mary E. (nee Holmes) Ziegler and their three daughters, Mary Lou, Linda Sue and Kay Ann on Sunday, July 19, 2009. Lou was a WWII Veteran of the Pacific theater on board LST 942. He was a lifetime resident of Pedricktown, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Pedricktown. Lou was a generous man, who worked on the “LIQUID GOLDMINE” (the oil truck) for WW Summerill and then Ross Fogg & Son Oil Company until he retired at the age of 75. He is survived by two sisters Helen (Ziegler) Blum of Inverness, FL and Elizabeth (Betty Ziegler) Justice and her husband Hap of Cohansey, NJ, his children, daughter, Patti L. Colton of Pedricktown and her sons Thomas Jr. and Tina of New Philadelphia, PA and eight children, James E. and his two children, son, Louis Jr. and his wife Kay of Chesapeake VA and their daughters Melissa Trevena and husband Rick and two children of South Mills, NC, Heather Richardson and husband Patrick and daughter of Norfolk, VA, son, James D. and wife Nancy and two stepsons Stephen and Andrew Thomas each have a child, and daughter, Trina M. D’Agostino and husband Donald of New Cumberland, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Clarence and Frank and five sisters, Blanch, Pearl, Marion, Florence and May. Lou spent the cooler months with his son in Chesapeake going with him to work sometimes at Tidewater Community College where everyone knew him by the nickname “Scrapper”. He made friends wherever he went and was quick to let everyone know he was from New Jersey. He had a knack of being blessed with the gift of gab; he could talk to anyone about anything. A memorial service will be held 8 PM Thursday in the Ashcraft Funeral Home, 47 State St., Penns Grove where a viewing will be held from 7 to 8 PM. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
