Jo Ann Brown Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Jo Ann Brown (nee Simmerman), age 74, of Pennsville and formerly of Wenonah, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by her loving family on February 28, 2022. Jo Ann is survived by her husband of 54 years Everett Wayne Brown, Jr. the love of her life, her daughters Lisa Ann (Brown) Ramsey (Daniel) and Jennifer Lynn Brown, and the Apple of her eye her grandson Jesse Allen Rafine. Jo Ann is survived by a very large family including many brother -in -laws, sister-in-laws, nieces , nephews, cousins, and great nieces & great nephews. She is also survived by many special friends that she considered family. Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents Harry & Dorothy Simmerman and her sister Doris DeGroodt. Jo Ann studied nursing at Cooper Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1968. She attended Woodbury Junior -Senior High School graduating in 1965. She started working at Underwood-Memorial Hospital, Woodbury after graduating nursing school.During her nursing career as a RN, she also worked at Cooper Hospital and Salem Memorial Hospital and the Salem County Health Department. Jo Ann retired from the Salem County Health Department after 25 years in September 2009. Jo Ann loved her church family at Trinity United Methodist in Pennsville. She sang in the choir and played in the Bell Choir. Her favorite vacations were to Keuka Lake NY and her cruises to Bermuda. She enjoyed being at the Lake at the Sportsman Club. She loved her Phillies, boating, fishing, swimming, reading, bowling, and bus trips with C& B Tours. She loved relaxing in her gazebo listening to music. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday March 10 at Trinity United Methodist Church located at 67 S Broadway in Pennsville, from 6 to 7 pm followed by a service in celebration of her life at 7pm. Interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Trinity United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice.
