Frederick W. Hammel Sr, longtime resident of Pennsville and formally of Sharptown, NJ, passed away on May 16th 2022 surrounded by loved ones. Fred is survived by his wife of 49 years, Theresa Hammel (nee Yetneck). He was a loving father to Fred Hammel (Cheryl), Kelly Fuller (Craig), and James Hammel (Sara). He was immensely proud of his grandchildren, Roslyn Fuller, Benjamin Hammel, and Charles Hammel. Fred is also survived by his brothers George “Mack” Hammel (Nancy) and Howard Hammel (Patty) and his sisters Linda Hannah (Herb) and Betty Ann Woodward (Kevin). Fred was predeceased by his father, George A. Hammel, mother, Lois Elise Trew (nee Hammel, Sims), and stepfather James Archie Trew. Fred enjoyed fishing, watching cowboy movies, rebuilding outboards, restoring classic cars, spoiling his beloved dog, Otis, and spending time with the family and friends who loved him. Fred served his country as a member of the United States Navy during the Vietnam war, from 1965 to 1969. Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Tuesday May 24th, 6:30 - 7:30 at Ashcraft Funeral Home 740 S. Broadway Pennsville, NJ.
