Evelyn Pelura Inouye

June 6, 1933 - September 11, 2021

Evelyn Pelura Inouye passed peacefully into the arms of God in the early morning hours of Saturday, September 11, 2021. Affectionately known as "Sweetie Wheatie," Evelyn was a friend to all. She was always willing to offer a smile or lend a helping hand. A person of great compassion, "she wept with those who wept, mourned with those who mourned, laughed with those who laughed and rejoiced with those who rejoiced." Daughter of James Pelura Sr. and Rose (DiFerdinando) Pelura, Evelyn was born on June 6, 1933 in Penns Grove, N.J. As a teenager, Evelyn worked in the family business, Pelura's Taxi. She could always be seen at the "Cab Stand". Evelyn also made lifelong friends with the high school pals in her "Sewing Club." She was a 1950 graduate of Penns Grove High School and Mason de Paris Beauty School in Camden, NJ. A homemaker for many years, Evelyn then worked for Ticor Title in Wilmington, DE. Her marriage to Donald Federanko produced three children, Donna, Danny and Darlene. They were the loves of her life! Evelyn's marriage to Edwin Inouye has lasted the test of time. "He makes me laugh everyday" she always said. Together for nearly 50 years,they enjoyed traveling, visiting places like Hawaii, Alaska, Bermuda, Jamaica on cruises along with many other destinations. They had many happy times spent with family, good friends and their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. One of her proudest traveling moments was the 1969 trip to Italy with her mother, Rose, her sister, Edith and friends from Penns Grove to attend the ordination of Father Carmen Carlone. She was a member of St.James RC Church, St. Gabriel's RC Church, Mother of Grace Society, Altar and Rosary Society, The Washington Club, Senior Saints, TOPS, and the Historical Society of Penns Grove,Carneys Point & Oldmans. Donations may be made in her honor to the American Cancer Society, Breast Cancer Research Foundation or charity of your choice. Evelyn is survived by her husband, Edwin Inouye, her sister, Darlene (James) Maxwell, children, Donna (Russell) Stout, Daniel (Debi) Federanko and Darlene Davis, grandchildren, Kelly Jae (David) Faulhaber, Maggie Stout & Ben Warwick, Sarah (William) Albertson, Rebecca Stout & Killian Peach, Shawn (Amber) Lowe and great grandchildren, Spencer & Evan Lowe, Bryce Harris and Lorelai & Cole Albertson along with many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Rose Pelura, her siblings, Frances Merritt, James Pelura, Edith Macconi, Albert Pelura, in laws Keigo & Kikuye Inouye & Mary Federanko, sister in laws, brother in laws and son-in-law Jay Davis. A viewing will be held at Ashcraft Funeral Home, 740 S Broadway, Pennsville, N.J. on Thursday, September 16 from 6 pm until 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 17 at 12:30 pm at St. Gabriel's Church, 369 Georgetown Road, Carneys Point, N.J. Interment will be at St. Joseph's RC Cemetery, Swedesboro, N.J.
