Deia Toenbreker of Carneys Point, age 98, went home to be with the Lord on Feb. 16, 2017. The daughter of Giovanni and Filomena Pietrantonio, Deia was born in Penns Grove. She worked as a floor manager in both Link’s and Wolfe’s sewing factories in Penns Grove for many years. Deia loved gardening and cooking and combined these skills by using her home grown vegetables in many of her special recipes. In 2001, she won the runner-up prize in a Better Homes and Gardens national cooking contest for her famous “Aunt Deia’s” Easter bread. She continued to make her special dishes until very recently. She also had a broad knowledge and interest in antiques. Over the years, she collected many interesting and high-quality antique pieces and collectibles. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband John “Dutch” Toenbreker, her brother Joseph B. Pietrantonio and his wife Rita. She is survived by nephew John Pietrantonio (Marlyce), niece Diane Kenworthy (John), nephew Joseph M. Pietrantonio (Karen), and goddaughter Mary Ann Bowman (George). A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at the Ashcraft Funeral Home, 47 State St., Penns Grove, NJ from 9-10:30am followed by internment at Eglington Cemetery in Clarksboro, NJ.
