October 18, 1949 - November 30, 2021
Danny “Pop” Scioli, age 72, was received in Grace by the Lord on November 30, 2021. He fought valiantly against end-stage skin cancer, never letting it distinguish his dedication to his family, always assuring they were okay. He was a steadying force in the lives he touched, a man of few words, yet with great depth of character and dedication to a cause. He was a loyal friend and fierce ally. Those same traits served him well during his career with the International Brotherhood of Painters & Allied Trades (IBPAT) District Council 711, from which he retired after 35 years, as a business agent. Never one to stay idle, he was a gifted mechanic who also enjoyed being outside whenever possible, sometimes on his motorcycle, sometimes in the garden or doing yard work. He was a constant companion to his wife, Debbie. He delighted in his grandchildren, often being the first to teach them to count or tell time, all the while emphasizing the importance of doing well in school. He was a great teacher, aware of so many How-Tos (from Yo-yos to hula hoops, tying knots, driving, oil changes, electronics, GPS and so much more), an awesome father and grandfather (his shoehorn was a gift to him from Santa’s Workshop - 1977). Though we are convinced navigating many a path without him will be difficult, he set a great example for us to follow. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Deborah (nee Scott), daughter, Kathleen Pompper (Jeff), his grandchildren, Dennis Allen, Holly and Diana Pompper, two sisters, Shirley Ferrelli (Gabe) and Linda MacDonald (Ed) and one brother, Tex. Predeceased are his stepson, Patrick “PJ” McBride (Barbara), parents Fred and Stella Scioli, Brothers Al, Fred and Joe, and sisters, Dolly (Hank) Rathbone and Diane (Norman) Carey. Visitation will be Monday, December 6, 2021 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Ashcraft Funeral Home, Pennsville, N.J. The service will begin at 11:00 a.m. and burial will immediately follow at Lake Park Cemetery. Your memory is our keepsake, with which we will never part. God has you in His keeping, We have you in our hearts.
