Anna Grubb Peak

Anna Grubb Peak, 83, of Sewell (formerly of Pennsville and Carneys Point) died on August 13, 2017. Ann was born in Williamstown, PA to Arthur and Ruth Grubb. Ann graduated from Williamstown HS and Shippensburg State Teacher’s College where she co-captained the basketball team and met the love of her life, Jack Peak. Her teaching career spanned 32 years in Harrisburg, Pennsville and Penns Grove School districts during which time she received a NJ State grant for innovative education. After retirement, Ann worked for the Philadelphia Eagles for 3 years before deciding to devote her time to her family, golf, volunteering and supporting all her favorite sports teams. She was a longtime member of the Church of Our Merciful Saviour in Penns Grove serving in many different capacities. Ann was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority for Women Educators and volunteered for the YMCA, Meals on Wheels, United Way, Salem County Arts Alliance, Sakima Country Club, and the Salem County Detention Center. Ann’s greatest memories were the 54 years she shared with Jack, her Shippensburg experience, her family, and the many friendships she made living in Salem County especially her golf trips with the ladies and Friday nights at Sakima. Ann is survived by her children, John “Dusty” Peak (Lisa) of Tucson, AZ; Kellie Gorski (Bob) and Kristin Stites of Sewell; grandchildren Krissy Pesce (Paul), Bobby Gorski and Casey Stites; great-grandchildren Francesco Pesce and Cameron Baldwin; her sister Ellen Goss of Bethel Park, PA; brother-in-law Ray Golden of Harrisburg, PA; and sister-in-law Eleanor Zane of Carneys Point. Friends may call on Thursday evening, August 17, from 6-8 PM at the Church of Our Merciful Saviour, 100 E Maple Ave, Penns Grove, NJ and on Friday morning from 9-10 AM. A memorial service will begin at 10:00 AM on Friday followed by burial at the Salem County Veterans Cemetery in Mannington, NJ.
