Thomas J. Durr Jr.

Thomas Joseph Durr Jr., age 83 of Pedricktown, NJ passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 1, 2025. Born in Penns Grove, NJ on June 2, 1941, he was the son of the late Thomas J. Durr Sr. & Cora (Bray) Durr. He graduated from Penns Grove Regional High School in 1959 and worked for the New Jersey Turnpike Authority for thirty-seven years before retiring in 2000. Following a brief retirement, Tommy and his wife Dolores were the proud owner/operators of two Hollywood Tans, located in Newark and New Castle, Delaware for over ten years. Tommy enjoyed traveling and taking day trips, going out to dinner, fishing, boating, refinishing antique furniture, spending time with family and friends playing board games or cards, but most of all he loved spending time in Aruba and the Shenandoah Valley with his beloved wife Dolores. In addition to his parents, Tommy was predeceased by his sister & brother-in-law Sharon & Nick Verdecchio, father-in-law Anthony Lerro, sister-in-law Rita (Jay) Goodwin, nieces Stacy Verdecchio and Rita Lorraine Goodwin and his sons-in-laws Rick Witort and Stanley Gaskill. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Dolores (nee Lerro) Durr, his daughters Denise Gaskill of Stratford, NJ and Kimberley Witort of St. George, SC and niece Selina Verdecchio of Middletown, DE; Grandchildren Kristen (Scott) Gutelius, Candice Clark, Jacqueline (Kevin) Shaffer, Holly Gaskill and Diana Gaskill; Great Grandchildren Christian Clark, Cheyenne Clark, Chase Clark, David Gutelius, Julia Gutelius, Jemma Gaskill and Luna Gaskill. Tommy is also survived by Dolores’ children Michael (Lucia) Morrison of Pennsville, Donna Morrison of Carney’s Point, Diana (Tommy) Headman of Pedricktown, Warren (Lena) Goodwin of Toms River and their children Michael (Brooke) Morrison, Anthony (Gaby) Morrison, Nicholas Goodwin, Anthony Goodwin, Jami Headman, Luke Headman and great-grandchildren Lucia Sol Morrison, Mikaela Morrison, Simone Headman and Isabela Morrison. Family and friends are invited to attend his viewing 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 12th at Ashcraft Funeral Home 740 South Broadway Pennsville, New Jersey. Please join family & friends to pray the Rosary beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13th at St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish, 369 Georgetown Road Carneys Point, NJ. A viewing will be held at the church 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. following the Rosary. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery 339 Paulsboro Road Swedesboro, NJ.
