Sarah Tingle

Sarah Marie Bailey Tingle, age 87 passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at the Salem County Nursing Home. Sarah was born on January 19, 1920 in Carneys Point to Clarence and Stella (Ridenour) Bailey. A member of the first graduating class of Penns Grove Regional High School in 1936, she lived her whole life in New Jersey. In 1938 she married James Melvin Tingle. She is survived by her children: Beverly Schmoyer of Oklahoma; Doris Bierman and husband Frederick of New Jersey; Susan Moser and husband Peter of Germany; Donise Antos of New Jersey; James Tingle and wife Janice of Georgia and Michael Tingle of New Jersey. Also surviving are her brothers: Clarence S. Bailey and wife Nancy of Penns Grove; Frank Bailey of Texas; Pierson Bailey and wife Blanche of Carneys Point; David Bailey and wife Eileen of Alloway; and one sister; Doris Bailey Donaldson of Penns Grove. Sara is also survived by seven grandchildren: Alan Schmoyer and wife Deborah of Oklahoma; Brian Schmoyer and wife Shannon of Texas; Laura Hart and husband John of Oklahoma; Robert Nemeth and wife Cheryl of New Jersey; Keith Nemeth and Mike Antos of New Jersey, R. J. Ruiz of Maryland and 15 great grandchildren and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. She delighted in playing cards and was an avid Bingo player. Her friends and family were blessed by her keen sense of humor. While her children were in school, she served as an officer of several PTA groups; served as a member and state officer with the Pythian Sisterhood and was a charter member of the Ranch Hope Auxiliary. She took much delight in volunteering at the Ranch Hope Thrift Shop in Cowtown. Sarah had been a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Penns Grove where she was an active worshipper until her health began to decline. She loved to crochet blankets for her children and grandchildren. Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Jean, two son-in-laws: Larry Schmoyer and Mike Antos and brother-in-law, Bob Donaldson. A memorial service will be held 11 AM Thursday, July 19, 2007 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 17 Franklin St., Penns Grove. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Ranch Hope for Boys, PO Box 325, Alloway, NJ 08001.
