Dr. Julius Anthony Rapone

Julius Anthony Rapone, Doc, age 95 of Carneys Point, NJ passed away April 17th, 2023. Julius was born in Summit Hill, PA. He was a navy veteran who spent two years serving in The Aleutian Islands in Alaska protecting our country. He graduated from Seton Hall University on an academic/athletic scholarship and was later drafted by the Cleveland Browns. Julius married his high school sweetheart Mary and entered Temple Dental School. Upon graduating together, they made Penns Grove their home, raising their three children. Julius was very active in the community where he was president of the Penns Grove Exchange Club (since 1956); member of the Penns Grove and St James school boards; St James High School Fathers Club Member of Corpus Christi/St Gabriel's Parish; and a 52-year member of the Knights of Columbus. He was Member Emeritus of the Salem Community College Board of Trustees. Julius was an exceptional golfer with a handicap of 2. He won many first-place awards, including being Club Champion of Wild Oaks Golf Club. He was also known for his gifted personality and humor and was the Master of Ceremonies at many events. Julius loved his Philadelphia Eagles being a season ticket holder for over 35 years. But his family was his greatest love, and he will be immensely missed. His love of dentistry was evident in his very successful dental practice, which he handed down to his sons after over fifty years of practice. Lifetime member of the NJ Dental Association (since 1955) He retired to travel and spend more time with his devoted wife, Gina. Together they loved and cared for their beautiful, blended family. Julius was predeceased by his loving wife Mary (Bilka) (Dec 1989) He is survived by his wife Gina, his children Judy Pavlick (Bill); Anthony; David (Deborah) and Dina (Patrick); grandchildren Jonathan; Jennifer; Michael; Katie; Corinne; Evan; David; Jenna; Diana, and ten great grandchildren. Friends and family are welcome to say goodbye to this exceptional man at Ashcraft Funeral Home,740 South Broadway, in Pennsville NJ on Thursday April 20th from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm and again on Friday April 21st at St Gabriel's Church at 369 Georgetown Road in Carneys Point, NJ at 9:30 am followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Lawnside Cemetery in Pilesgrove, NJ.
