Judy Ann Winfield

Judy Ann Winfield, 77, of Ocean City, NJ passed away peacefully at Shore Memorial Hospital in Somers Point on July 23, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was born on September 17, 1947 in Salem, NJ to the late Harry and Marion (Niles) DeMaris. She is preceded in death by her parents, mother-in-law Florence Winfield, father-in-law Edgar Winfield, granddaughter Lexi Booras, grandsons Joshua and Zachary Booras, and my aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, her poo bear, Edgar B Winfield, her daughters Christie Lee DeMaris, Terri Lyn Winfield, Shaun E Winfield, and her great granddaughter they adopted Emma Winfield. Her grandchildren Arial Williamson, Elizabeth Winfield (Adrian), and Jessica Taylor. Great grandchildren Richard Mathis, Bella Sullivan, and Tommy Long. She is also survived by her brother David DeMaris, brother-in-law Charles Winfield, sister-in-law Mary Winfield, nephews David DeMaris and Gregory (Stevielyn) Winfield and niece Breanna Vigorito. Great nephews Kyle DeMaris, Greyson Winfield, and Garrett Winfield, great niece Kayla Hern and many family members and friends that are like family. Judy was born and raised in Salem and was in the graduating Class of '66 from Salem High School. She married the love of her life, Edgar, on February 14, 1980 and raised their children in Deepwater, NJ. before moving to Ocean City in 1997. Although Judy was raised in Salem, she was a true Deepwater girl at heart. She was involved in the Ladies Auxiliary at the Deepwater Firehouse, Station 7, and was the unofficial photographer for years because she sure did take a lot of pictures. She worked at the Ocean City Intermediate School in the cafeteria for 19 years before retiring. Tozzie, as we called her, loved the sun, putting Sun In in her hair, and sitting on the beach for hours telling us to put our faces up because you don't want a white neck. She didn't like tan lines from a bathing suit strap, wasn't a fan of sunblock over 4 in oil, and would tell you to move if you were blocking her sun. She had a great sense of humor, very sarcastic, and wouldn't hesitate to put you in your place if need be. She loved a good party and extended happy hours on the veranda with an ice cold Coors Light in her hand. She was the life of the party and in many cases the last man standing at most of them. She loved talking on the phone for hours on end and to hear a juicy piece of gossip. She had the weirdest expressions that if you said it around someone who didn't know her they looked at you like you were crazy. She loved her family and friends and enjoyed having everyone down the shore for a good seafood dinner while listening to The Drifters or for a day on the beach followed with happy hour on the porch. She touched a lot of peoples lives in many different ways and this world will be a bit dimmer without her in it. We all love you and we sure will miss you down here! A viewing will be held at the Ashcraft Funeral Home located at 740 South Broadway in Pennsville, NJ on Wednesday, July 30th from 10am to 12pm with a service at 12pm. Interment will follow at Lawnside Cemetery in Woodstown, NJ. You will be forever young, forever tan, with endless happy hours with all your family and friends.
