Genevieve M. Gant

Genevieve M. Gant, age 96 of Pennsville, died Saturday 22 October 2022 with her children by her side. Born in Carneys Point, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Theodore & Alice (Richardson) McAllister, the 3rd of their 14 children. After graduating from Penns Grove High School, she worked in the library at Dupont Chambers Works and was a model for Dupont’s nylon stockings. Later in life, she was the office manager for the Pennsville Progress and Today’s Sunbeam newspapers. She also worked along with her sister, Judy, at Hinkle’s News Shop. Both Genevieve and her husband, Paul, came from large families and family was always the focus of their lives. Genevieve loved spending time with her sisters, brothers, and their spouses. She and Paul spent summers with their children at the shore in Sea Isle City. She loved being a grandmother (Mom Mom) and great grandmother, and being Aunt Neva to her nieces, nephews, and their families. When family was leaving her home after visiting, she always said “ You do not need to leave!”. After retirement, she and her husband Paul traveled throughout the US and spent their winters at the Florida beaches. She loved watching the Phillies and Eagles games, and Family Feud. Genevieve is survived by a daughter, Lorraine Cox (Brian) of Pennsville, sons Daniel Gant (Jack) of Raleigh, NC and Dale Gant (Sutton) of Pennsville; grandchildren, Tyler Cox (Lauren), Kayla Gant (Claire), Kyle Gant (Rebecca), Kendall Evans (Dane), Erica Mulhern (Kevin), Heather Smith (Jeff), Conyers Lamm (David), Mary Claire Lamm, Laura Lamm (Ryan); great grandchildren, Georgia Mulhern, Mila Mulhern, Cohen Petrutz, Kylie Smith, Kiera Smith, Kinsley Evans, Ashton Evans, Finley Humphreys and Ophelia Drews. She is also survived by brothers, Richard (Jackie), Oliver (Betty), Timothy, David John, and Daniel (Mickey) McAllister; sister Lois Coldren (Eddie) and numerous nieces and nephews whom she all dearly loved. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband, Paul A Gant; her brothers, Craddock, Theodore, Donald, Kenneth, and Lawrence McAllister; and her sisters, Wilma (Sis) Buckingham and Judith Hinkle. A graveside service will be held Thursday, 27 October 2022 at 11:00 am at Lawnside Cemetery, Woodstown, NJ. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Meals on Wheels Salem County, PO BOX 888, Elmer, NJ 08318.
