Frank Hayes Maurer Jr.

Frank Hayes Maurer, Jr. (4/1/1945 – 9/3/2014) is survived by the love of his life of 46 years, Mary (D’Urso), son Frank III, son Lawrence (Sarah), and daughter Stephanie (Daniel). He is also survived by the six joys of his life, Lawrence Jr., Isabelle, Cameron, Megan, Samuel and Jackson. Frank is also survived by his best friend and brother, Roy (Linda), little sister Debra (Edward), and numerous nieces and nephews. Frank was predeceased by his parents Frank, Sr. and Lula. After high school, Frank began a career at Chrysler Corporation. He left Chrysler for four years to serve his country as a petty officer second class in the United States Navy on the USS Meredith during Vietnam. He returned to Chrysler and worked until his retirement in 2007 following 43 years of service. His family and friends would listen to the various alphabet bodies of vehicles and the countless ways he helped fix problems. Everyone knew what time Frank got up to go to work in the morning, but no one could comprehend the hours he put in after work finishing his degree while raising his family. Realizing the influence his pursuit of continuing education would have on his children, Frank returned to Wilmington University to earn his Masters degree. For all of the hours Frank worked to support his family, he made even greater efforts to be an active participant in their lives. At one point in his life, Frank’s greatest joy was coaching or watching his children do what they loved. However, he found his true calling watching and coaching his grandchildren in ice hockey, wrestling, soccer, baseball, football and cheer. The kids could count on Pop-Pop for encouragement and constructive criticism in equal doses. As Pop-Pop he earned that right. Frank trained as an electronics technician in the Navy, and carried that skill over as a hobby and later as a source of income in his retirement. Frank also loved watching Notre Dame Football and driving his RV. He enjoyed a good meal out, as long as it did not involve a glass of over-chlorinated tap water. Frank was not only loved by his family and friends, but also those he met in all walks of his life. He was never at a loss for words which made friends smile and family members cringe. He was adored as a husband, Dad, Pop-Pop, brother, uncle friend and super-fan and will be dearly missed by all of his loved ones. A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday from 9:30 to 11 AM in Corpus Christi RC Church, 369 Georgetown Rd., Carneys Point followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM.
