Brent William Hathaway

Brent William Hathaway, age 53, of Carneys Point, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of joy, love, and unwavering spirit. Born on January 7, 1972 with hydrocephalus and cerebral palsy, Brent’s remarkable life was a testament to the power of love, care, and community. His longevity and happiness were made possible through the tireless devotion of his beloved mother, Dorothy Ann Hathaway (Sherrick), his loving father William Hathaway who predeceased him, and his extraordinary caregiver of 28 years, Amy McFarland. Their dedication, along with the love and support of devoted family, teachers, caregivers, skilled medical professionals, case managers and support coordinators, gave Brent a life filled with adventure, laughter, and endless love. Brent lit up every room he entered with his radiant smile and infectious energy. To know Brent was to be loved unconditionally. He had a special way of making everyone part of his orbit giving his little requests on how to make you part of his day. If you were lucky enough to receive one of his famous nicknames, you knew you had a special place in his heart. Brent’s passions were pure and full of wonder. He loved the Muppets and Sesame Street, found pure delight in train rides, and treasured his magical trips to Disney. Yet, even the simplest outing—like a trip to the mall or even the grocery store—was an exciting adventure through his eyes. His joy was contagious, and his laughter was the kind that stayed with you long after it rang out. Brent’s impact on those who knew him is immeasurable. He didn’t just live life—he illuminated it. And though he has left this world, the love he gave so freely continues to live on in all of us. A celebration of Brent’s life will be held on May 9, 2025, at the Christian Life Center in Pennsville, NJ. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM, followed by a service of shared memories at 11:30 AM. A luncheon for all of Brent’s friends and family will follow the service. Interment will be private at a later date. In honoring Brent, we celebrate a life lived with pure love and joy—a life that taught us all how to cherish the little things, love without condition, and find happiness in every moment.
